July 4 Midnight Parade

Rafting in the Smokies is the Real Deal!

After a year where our outdoor plans saw a pause that lasted longer than what we would have preferred, 2021 comes with the chance to make plans, enjoy the outdoors and discover new places. Make sure to create fun memories and enjoy yourself with your loved ones.

Every year, on July 4th, we have the opportunity to celebrate our Independence Day. This is a day filled with events and gatherings that culminate with the display of fireworks all over our nation. Plan ahead and enjoy the warm summer weather in the company of your loved ones while celebrating our nation’s independence.

If you happen to find yourself in the Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge area or would like to plan to visit the area, we recommend participating in the Midnight Parade, the first July 4th Parade of our nation. It begins at exactly midnight when the clock ticks over to mark the start of July 4th. This parade has been nationally recognized and gained the attention of visitors that grow every year. The parade features many decorative floats and participants to honor our nation’s military veterans and all other military heroes.

To fully enjoy the parade, make sure to plan ahead and current with the area’s latest news. Also, follow these tips to make your trip even more enjoyable:

  • Events like these tend to attract many people from around the country, making it difficult to find open space and available deals for your stay. Planning early is a must. Make sure you arrive early, and if you are coming from other areas, you have all your reservations set up in advance.
  • As a nighttime parade, you will have the entire morning to be able to gather your friends and family, so visit local restaurants and landmarks around the area. That way, you will familiarize yourself.
  • Dress comfortably and be prepared to stand, dance, and walk for a while. Keep yourself hydrated, and don’t forget to take pictures.

The Midnight Parade features countless decorative floats, where you can even participate as long as you contact them in advance. Check out the participants dressed in colorful and elaborate attire, listen to the music, and enjoy the whole night as you finalize the celebration with a display of Fireworks from the heart of downtown. Stretching for more than a mile, the route begins at Baskins Creek Bypass on East Parkway, turning south onto Parkway at traffic light #3 and traveling the entirety of downtown to traffic light #10 at Ski Mountain Road.

Celebrating with loved ones is one of the best ways to enjoy the day ahead of us, but we must also make sure we honor the veterans that made this event possible. While you are here, we encourage you to explore the area, make new friends and create unforgettable memories. This summer is all about rediscovering our nation’s most significant events and locations. The Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge area offers great attractions and places to visit, especially if you are adventurous.
