Making the Most of Whitewater Rafting

It’s a hot, sultry summer afternoon, and you’re burning up after a hike in the Great Smoky Mountains. You’re ready for a fun outdoor activity that cools you down but immerses you in the sights and sounds of the Smokies. Does this scenario sound familiar? If so, it’s time to cool off and have fun with a whitewater rafting trip. While rafting can be a spontaneous last-minute activity, you’ll find that a bit of planning can help you enjoy your experience even more. How can you make the most of your whitewater rafting trip? Read on to find out.

Consult your guide

At Rafting in the Smokies, each raft is piloted by one of our friendly, knowledgeable, trained Guides. You’ll find that they’re a great resource throughout your trip. Are you wondering about a local landmark? Just ask! Spot an unfamiliar bird or stunning tree? Your guide can help you identify it. Do you want to take your whitewater rafting experience up a notch? Our guides are happy to help. To make the most of your whitewater rafting trips, be sure to take advantage of the experience and advice your Guide offers.

Bring your GoPro

You’re going to see stunning sights and create unforgettable memories while you’re out on the water. Why not capture your day in style by bringing along your GoPro? At Rafting in the Smokies, we offer special helmets to accommodate your GoPro. Just make sure it’s equipped with the slide-in attachment so that it will fit. A little extra planning, and you’ll be able to relive your day of fun time and time again!

Make the most of the weather

When most people think of the ideal rafting trip, their minds jump to sunny days. However, rain can make your rafting experience even more fun and exciting! We launch our rafts, rain or shine! At RITS, we know that getting wet is half the fun, so embrace whatever weather we’re having! Sunny days are ideal for a cooling trip down the rapids, and rainy afternoons make for an exciting adventure on the water. Whatever the weather, get ready to make the most of it!

Try other activities

Finished with your whitewater rafting experience, but want some more fun? At Rafting in the Smokies, we offer more adventure with our zipline canopy tour, high elements ropes course, and rock climbing wall. Book a combination package, and you’ll save money while having extra fun. Cool off and get wet on the river before tackling the ropes or skimming over the trees on our zipline!

No matter your level of experience, whitewater rafting is the perfect way to create fun memories and enjoy an afternoon with your loved ones. With a bit of planning, you can make your trip even better! Follow these tips to make the most of your rafting experience. Grab your GoPro, ask your guide a few questions, and embrace whatever weather comes your way. It’s sure to be a great day out on the water!
